Building a party that survives in Ashvale Chronicles
Ashvale Chronicles hides its depth behind a slow opening, and a lot of players bounce off before the party system really opens up. If you're struggling with the early bosses, the fix is almost always in your skill trees rather than your gear.
I made the classic mistake of pushing everyone toward damage. The run that finally worked had one dedicated support who could reposition allies and cleanse status effects. Suddenly fights I'd been losing became manageable, because I wasn't getting picked apart turn by turn.
Positioning matters more than the tutorial suggests. Enemies that hit a whole row will punish you for clumping up, so spread out and use the drag-to-reposition move liberally. Stamina also means you can't just spam your strongest skill, so plan two or three turns ahead.
It's a thoughtful game underneath, and once it clicks the combat becomes the highlight rather than the hurdle. Give it those first two chapters.
